ActiveSkinHub publishes evidence-based reviews of skincare active ingredients. Every claim on this site traces back to peer-reviewed research or regulatory guidance. No marketing claims without citations.
Our Editorial Standard
Every ingredient guide on ActiveSkinHub includes: (1) a description of the documented mechanism of action; (2) citation to at least one peer-reviewed randomized controlled trial or regulatory source; (3) concentration data from clinical studies, not just marketing concentration claims; and (4) known side effects, contraindications, and interaction risks.
We do not publish claims about ingredients that are not supported by at least one human clinical trial. Mechanistic studies (in vitro, animal) are noted but distinguished from human RCT evidence.
YMYL Compliance
Skincare is a YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) category under Google's search quality guidelines because incorrect information can cause skin harm. We take this seriously with the following policies:
- +Every page includes a medical disclaimer stating the content is informational, not medical advice
- +We never prescribe ('you should use') — only describe clinical evidence ('commonly used at X% for Y indication')
- +All clinical claims include a primary source citation (journal, year, PMID where available)
- +Side effect warnings, photosensitivity notices, and pregnancy contraindications are on every relevant page
- +Prescription actives are never recommended without a 'via licensed provider' framing
- +Pregnancy and breastfeeding warnings are on all retinoid pages
- +All pages include a 'talk to your doctor' closer on clinical topics
- +A medical reviewer disclosure is on every page (see status below)
Medical Reviewer Status
Phase 1 (current)
Content is reviewed for factual accuracy by editorial staff against primary literature sources. No board-certified dermatologist has reviewed Phase 1 content yet.
Phase 2 (planned)
A board-certified dermatologist will review and co-sign all clinical content before the Phase 2 launch. Reviewer credentials and conflict-of-interest disclosure will be published on each page. Recruitment is in progress.
Affiliate Disclosure
ActiveSkinHub earns a commission when you purchase products or start telehealth subscriptions through our links. Every commercial page includes a disclosure at the top.
Commission rates do not affect editorial rankings. We evaluate products and platforms on clinical criteria. The highest-commission option is not automatically the top pick.
